Aldeburgh Cinema has been in operation since 1919.

The auditorium was created at the rear of a High Street shop. It nearly closed in the 1960's but was saved by locals, led by Lettie Gifford, and including Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears.

It is now a registered charity, with a 1,000+ Friends support group, and is home of the Aldeburgh Documentary Film and Children's Film Festivals.
