Austen's Women: Lady Susan

From the award-winning creators of Austen’s Women, A Christmas Carol, I, Elizabeth, Female Gothic, Christmas Gothic, and A Room of One’s Own. Austen’s Women are back - in a brand-new show! Devil-may-care Lady Susan, the coquettish black widow, hunting down not one, but two, fortunes; oppressed, rebellious daughter Frederica; long- suffering sister-in-law Catherine; family matriarch Mrs De Courcy; and insouciant best friend, Alicia. Return to the Regency (or rather, Georgian) in this darkly comic tale of society and the women trapped within it; their struggles, their desires, their temptations and manipulations - and at the vanguard, Lady Susan: charming, scheming, witty, and powerful; taking on society and making it her own. But has she met her match? Based on Jane Austen’s first full-length work from 1794, and created entirely from letters, the piece is performed by Rebecca Vaughan and directed by Andrew Margerison. Created in collaboration with The Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead.

Dunfermline Gilbert & Sullivan Society Present: Iolanthe

Dunfermline Gilbert & Sullivan Society Present: Iolanthe

Dunfermline Gilbert & Sullivan Society will be performing Iolanthe next February. It is 12 years since the company last staged this wonderful operetta and it is undoubtedly one of the most satirical written for the D’oyly Carte Opera Company. Our show is set rather differently from the traditional Victorian woodland glade and the Thames Embankment by the Houses of Parliament but you will definitely enjoy the twist to the telling of the traditional story. All the music, solos and choruses will still be the same and the full orchestra will be led, once again by our excellent musical director, Eddie MacLennan and direction is in the experienced hands of Michael Scott who will also be playing the part of the Lord Chancellor. Other cast members include Robin OZóg as Earl of Mountararat, David Thomson as Strephon, Caroline Warburton as Iolanthe, Elaine Young as the Queen of the Fairies and Jennifer Murray-Smith as Phyllis. A tremendous line up of well- known singers who have performed across all the Edinburgh and Fife G&S societies in recent years. We look forward to welcoming you to our next production, just sit back and enjoy the show!

Skinjacker - Scottish Film Premiere

Skinjacker - Scottish Film Premiere

After a very successful film festival run around the world, the feature film Skinjacker returns home. This is a red-carpet screening and Scottish Premiere, where the cast and crew will be also attending. Set on the Isle of Skye and also filmed in Dunfermline and surrounding areas, Skinjacker is a creepy sci-fi / thriller, written and directed by local filmmaker David Izatt. The Isle of Skye has its fair share of myths and legends. One night, what appears to be a meteorite crashes down upon the island’s rocky hillside, cutting all power in the area. plunging the entire island into darkness as it disrupts the power supply. Yet, the silence is shattered by an unsettling, pulsating vibration that seems to beckon passing vehicles along the solitary track, luring them towards a sinister fate. In this eerie blackout, engines sputter and tensions escalate, pitting locals, tourists, and a gang of thieves against each other in a chaotic showdown. As people inexplicably vanish, whispers of the 'Biasd Bheulach' spread, raising questions about the existence of the legendary 'Beast of the Odail Pass.' But what unfolds is far more chilling than any folklore could foretell. As the story unfolds, we gradually uncover the reasons behind this enigmatic event, leading us on a slow-burning journey towards an explosive and shocking conclusion.
