Anyone familiar with Kazik Radwanski’s short films will want to catch his feature debut; an intense, unflinching study of a most peculiar man. Derek is almost a latterday Travis Bickle. He is thirty-four, lives in his parents’ basement and vaguely pursues a dream of becoming a computer animator. Nerdy, balding and liable to make everyone around him feel uncomfortable, Derek’s awkward presence is literally in your face as Radwanski scrutinises him in tight close-ups. Could a relationship with the affable Nicole (Nicole Fairbairn) be some step towards a greater connection with the world around him?
