Stet (Wareing) is a rebellious 11 year old with a beautiful singing voice. When his single mother is killed, his biological father enrols him in a choir school under the stern supervision of Carvelle (Hoffman.) Girard dials down the expected sentimentality, Hoffman underplays nicely, and with fine work from Wareing and Bates it's a captivating drama.
