HopFestFringe presents:

Ayn Rand, Russian novelist and Objectivist philosopher, is being put to trial for hypocrisy. Did Rand actually conform to her ideals of rational self-interest, laissez-faire capitalism and metaphysical art, or did she only think about those ideals? Written as part of 2016's 365 Women a Year, The Value of a Reasoned Argument is a fictional court case that presents both sides of the argument, and lets a jury formed of the audience decide the verdict, and therefore the ending! With a small cast (around 8-10), the play is not an evaluation of Rand's theories or writings, and does not seek to present her in any particular light, but instead the audience are given all the facts they need to determine the Rand's innocence or guilt in the question of whether or not she applied her teachings to herself.
